This past weekend we surprised my mom for her 60th birthday to a weekend in Carmel. In the past year my brother, sister and I were brainstorming on how we could celebrate this milestone in her life. We thought about throwing a big party and inviting all of her friends, but we came to realize that she would be much happier with something small and intimate with the people closest in her life. We ended up hanging out at the beach, attempt to make a bonfire and roast smores and vienna sausages, play with my daughter Sophie and eat the equivalent of a weeks worth of food in one meal. It was an awesome weekend and without a doubt one of the best birthday’s ever.
